"I Am Moso" Documentary Screening & Workshop Series
Yi Crafts, in partnership with the Moso Museum from Lugu Lake, Yunnan, invites you to a special two-day event celebrating the culture and heritage of the Moso people through film, discussion, and hands-on craft.
📽️ 14th December – Documentary Screening & Panel Discussion
Join us at the Camden Chinese Community Centre for the ESEA Film Night, featuring the screening of "I Am Moso", a powerful documentary that offers a rare glimpse into the traditions, stories, and challenges faced by the Moso community. Following the film, engage in a thought-provoking panel discussion with cultural experts and filmmakers, exploring the themes of identity, heritage, and the preservation of indigenous cultures.
🖌️ 15th December, 2-4 PM – Moso Talk & Woodblock Printing Workshop
Head to the Yi Crafts Studio for an interactive session combining knowledge and creativity. Begin with a presentation by representatives from the Moso Museum, delving deeper into the history, customs, and matriarchal society of the Moso people. Then, immerse yourself in a hands-on woodblock printing workshop, inspired by Moso artistry, where you’ll create your own unique prints to take home.
This event offers a unique opportunity to celebrate the intersection of culture, art, and storytelling while supporting the preservation of traditional practices. Perfect for film lovers, craft enthusiasts, and those curious about China’s diverse cultural heritage.
