  • Arrival in Kunming: Welcome to Yunnan!

    Our exciting journey begins as we meet at Kunming Airport, where your guide will greet you and introduce you to the group.

    Once everyone has arrived, we’ll transfer to the hotel, give you a brief orientation, and make sure you’re comfortably settled in and prepared for the adventure ahead.

    In the evening, we’ll enjoy a welcome dinner at the hotel — a chance to get to know your fellow travellers and share in the anticipation of the days to come.

  • Begin the Journey: Shilin Stone Forest Exploration

    We begin our journey with a visit to the world-famous Shilin (Stone Forest) — a breathtaking natural wonder of towering limestone formations that have captivated travelers for centuries. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is not only a geological marvel but also holds deep cultural significance for the Yi people of the region.

  • Travel to Dali: Old Town Walk, Dali Dreamstone Museum & Lakeside Stay

    This morning, we’ll take the high-speed train to Dali, enjoying scenic views as we journey westward into Yunnan’s heartland.

    After arriving in Dali, we’ll take a relaxed walk around Dali Old Town, soaking in its historic charm, vibrant streets, and unique architecture. We’ll enjoy a group lunch featuring local specialties.

    In the afternoon, we’ll visit the fascinating Dali Dreamstone Museum, where natural stones and artistic imagination come together in a creative and meditative space.

    Later, we’ll settle into our hotel near Erhai Lake, surrounded by nature and calm — the perfect place to rest and prepare for the days ahead.

  • Our journey begins in Xizhou Village (喜洲古镇) — a charming Bai town known for its well-preserved architecture, vibrant markets, and rich artisanal heritage.

    We'll spend the morning visiting 匠志集 Folk Art Museum, where you'll get an insightful introduction to the traditional crafts of the region, from embroidery and tie-dye to wood carving and paper techniques. You’ll also have time to stroll through local markets and enjoy a taste of Xizhou’s signature street foods.

    In the afternoon, we’ll dive into a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the art of traditional incense making — from natural ingredients to shaping and drying, guided by local practitioners.

    This day sets the tone for the journey ahead — connecting deeply with the people, stories, and materials that define Yunnan's craft traditions.

  • Chongsheng Temple, Indigo Village & Bai Tea Ritual

    This morning, we’ll visit the iconic Chongsheng Temple and the Three Pagodas, one of the most revered Buddhist landmarks in Yunnan. Nestled at the foot of Cangshan Mountain, this sacred site offers a serene setting to explore over a thousand years of religious devotion and architectural beauty.

    For lunch, we’ll enjoy a peaceful vegetarian meal, often prepared in the temple style — simple, nourishing, and reflective of Buddhist principles.

    In the afternoon, we’ll head to Zhoucheng Village, a community famous for its natural indigo dyeing traditions. We’ll visit local artisans, learn about the intricate techniques of Bai textile craft, and experience the traditional “Three-Course Tea” (三道茶) — a unique Bai hospitality ritual symbolizing life’s journey from bitter to sweet.

  • Today we depart Dali and head north into the heart of Yunnan’s mountains, beginning the next chapter of our cultural journey.

    Our destination is the Old Town of Shaxi (沙溪古镇) — a beautifully preserved market town that once thrived as a major stop on the ancient Tea Horse Road, where tea, salt, and horses were traded across cultures.

    In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Tian Yi Yuan Woodcarving Studio, where you’ll have the chance to observe the intricate craftsmanship of traditional Bai woodwork, and try your hand at basic woodcarving techniques under the guidance of a local artisan.

    We'll stay overnight in a boutique hotel in the heart of Shaxi Old Town, surrounded by cobbled lanes, quiet courtyards, and centuries-old charm.

  • Jianchuan Black Pottery & Heqing Silver Craft

    This morning, we’ll visit Jianchuan Village, known for its rich tradition of black pottery making, a unique Yunnan craft that dates back centuries. You’ll have the chance to observe local potters at work and learn about the traditional techniques used to shape and fire this beautiful, smoke-fired ceramic.

    After lunch, we’ll continue our journey to Heqing Village, a community famous for its skilled silversmiths. Here, we’ll visit a local silver workshop to learn about Bai and Naxi silver jewelry-making traditions, and see how intricate pieces are still handcrafted using ancient techniques passed down through generations

  • Jade Dragon Snow Mountain & Cultural Performance in Lijiang

    Today, we journey to one of Yunnan’s most iconic natural landmarks: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Yulong Xueshan). Towering over the Lijiang valley, this majestic snow-capped range is sacred to the Naxi people and home to dramatic alpine landscapes.

    We’ll take in the breathtaking views and fresh mountain air, with time to explore the area and appreciate its natural beauty.

    As part of our visit, we’ll also enjoy the stunning open-air performance “Impression Lijiang”, directed by Zhang Yimou. Set against the backdrop of the mountain itself, the show features over 500 local performers and tells the story of Naxi culture, tradition, and the relationship between people and nature.

  • Baisha Old Town: Dongba Culture, Mural Art & Hands-on Craft

    Today we’ll visit Baisha Old Town, one of the oldest and most culturally rich Naxi villages near Lijiang. Far less touristy than the main city, Baisha offers a more intimate connection with history, tradition, and everyday life.

    We’ll begin with a visit to the Baisha Temple, home to centuries-old mural paintings that blend Naxi, Tibetan, and Han Buddhist imagery — a rare and powerful visual history of spiritual and cultural exchange.

    Next, we’ll visit a Dongba family, descendants of the Naxi priests who keep alive their ancient traditions. We’ll learn about Dongba paper-making, try our hand at woodblock printing, and take part in a Dongba script session, exploring the pictographic writing system that is still used in rituals and storytelling today.

  • Journey to Lugu Lake: Moso Culture & Lakeside Serenity

    Today, we’ll travel to the stunning Lugu Lake, nestled high in the mountains on the border of Yunnan and Sichuan. Known for its crystal-clear waters and matriarchal Mosuo culture, this serene lake is often called the "Kingdom of Women."

    Upon arrival, we’ll enjoy a traditional Mosuo lunch, featuring local ingredients and flavors unique to this remote region.

    In the afternoon, we’ll take a ride on a traditional wooden boat (猪槽船) across the tranquil waters of the lake, taking in the mountain reflections, sacred islets, and peaceful rhythms of lakeside life.

  • A Day in the Life of the Mosuo

    Today we’ll immerse ourselves in the unique world of the Mosuo people, one of the last remaining matriarchal societies in the world.

    We’ll begin the day with a visit to the Mosuo Museum, where we’ll gain insight into their social structure, traditions, and beliefs — from the "walking marriage" custom to their reverence for women, family, and nature.

    Later, we’ll be welcomed into a Mosuo family home, where we’ll share a home-cooked traditional lunch and spend time learning about daily life. You’ll have the chance to experience a day as the Mosuo live — through conversation, hands-on activities, or simply by being part of their rhythms.

    This day offers a rare and respectful window into a way of life that is as deeply rooted as it is quietly powerful.

  • Farewell to Lugu Lake & Return to Kunming

    This morning, we’ll say goodbye to the peaceful beauty of Lugu Lake and begin our journey back toward Kunming.

    We’ll drive to Lijiang Train Station, where we’ll board the high-speed train to Kunming — a smooth and scenic ride through Yunnan’s stunning landscapes.

    Once we arrive in Kunming, we’ll arrange accommodations for everyone at a hotel near the airport, making your departure the next day as easy and comfortable as possible.
