Our Other Sides - UK and Dali Textiles Exhibition

Our Other Sides explores the dynamic intersection where traditional craftsmanship meets contemporary artistic vision. Set against the backdrop of Dali's ancient landscape, this exhibition creates an intimate dialogue between British artists and local ethnic minority artisans, each bringing their unique perspective to the art of textile making.

This immersive cultural experience transcends conventional exhibition boundaries. In a historic 500-year-old Bai family courtyard and traditional village workshops, artists and craftspeople come together to share, learn, and create. Through this exchange, ancient techniques like indigo tie-dyeing and felt-making are reimagined through contemporary artistic expression.

The exhibition unfolds as a living narrative of cultural exchange. British artists work alongside local craftspeople, learning centuries-old techniques while bringing fresh perspectives to traditional practices. This collaboration results in a collection of works that honor heritage while embracing innovation, creating a bridge between past and present, East and West.

Our Other Sides represents more than an exhibition – it is a testament to the enduring power of craft to connect cultures and generations. Through this intimate engagement with traditional techniques and local artisans, we create pathways for sustainable cultural dialogue and artistic innovation.
