About the Workshop
Join Yi Crafts (怡手作) for a hands-on embroidery workshop exploring the traditions of the Yi ethnic minority of Southwest China.
Inspired by the exhibition Brides of the Mountains, this session introduces participants to the cultural meanings, colours, and stitching techniques found in Yi bridal dress and handmade textiles. Across Liangshan and Yunnan, embroidery is more than decoration — it carries family memory, identity, and the care passed between generations of women.
During the workshop, participants will learn basic Yi embroidery techniques and create their own small stitched sample to take home. No prior experience is required.
