Snow Skin Mooncake Making
26 September · 11:30am – 1:00pm
Fold delicate snow skin around creamy fillings and discover the stories of the Mid-Autumn Festival through making and tasting.
In this 1.5-hour workshop, you'll learn how to make snow skin mooncakes (冰皮月饼), a modern style of mooncake known for its soft, delicate and slightly chewy skin. Unlike traditional baked mooncakes, snow skin mooncakes are not baked, giving them a lighter texture and a fresh, contemporary feel.
You'll be guided through each stage of the process, from preparing and shaping the snow skin to wrapping it neatly around the filling and using traditional mooncake moulds to create the final pattern. No previous baking or making experience is needed — we'll take you through the process step by step.
For this special Mid-Autumn session, we'll be making two contemporary flavours:
Taro Cheesecake
Creamy, gently sweet taro paired with a rich cheesecake-inspired filling.
Cranberry Cheesecake
A balance of creamy cheesecake and bright cranberry, bringing a little tartness to the sweetness of the mooncake.
As you make your mooncakes, we'll also explore the traditions and stories behind the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most important seasonal celebrations across East and Southeast Asia. From the symbolism of the full moon to the tradition of sharing mooncakes with family and friends, you'll discover how food brings people together during this special time of year.
Take your handmade mooncakes home to enjoy, share with loved ones, or give as a thoughtful handmade gift.
This is a relaxed and sociable workshop designed for anyone who enjoys food, culture and making things by hand. Come along with friends and family, or join us on your own and spend a creative morning discovering a new tradition.
